Terms of use

Last updated November 1, 2026

Cryptid Junkie is a small hobby project run by one person, not a company. It is free, has no ads, and makes no money. By using the map or the board you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

What this is

We map claims, not creatures. The map collects what other people say they saw, with a link back to where we found it. A case on the map is somebody's account, not proof that anything happened. Nothing here is advice. Do not use it to decide where it is safe to go, and do not go looking for anything on private land.

Who can use it

You must be 13 or older. Reading the map and the board is open to everyone. Posting, replying and voting need an account, made by signing in with a provider (such as Google). One person, one account. We can limit or close an account that breaks these terms or the house rules.

What you post

  • You keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to store it, show it on the board, and check it with the automated tools described in the privacy notice, for as long as it is up.
  • Only post things you wrote or saw yourself. Do not post other people's private details, and do not post anything about a child.
  • Follow the house rules. Posts are checked by rules, by two automated reviewers and, when they are unsure, by a person. Anything held is shown to you with the reason. You can delete it, or appeal.
  • You can delete your own posts and replies at any time.
  • We may remove anything, at any time, without notice. The moderator has the last word.

The map and its sources

The map is built from public sources, listed on the credits page. We link to the original, credit it, show short excerpts, and write our own summaries. The sources and their text belong to their owners. If you own something we show and want it changed or removed, or a case names you, gives away a private place, or is wrong, use the corrections and removal page. A person reads every request.

No promises

The site is provided as it is. It may be wrong, out of date, or offline. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or harm from using it or from anything posted on it. Posts are the views of the people who wrote them.

Changes

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
